A booster pump increases water-supply pressure when the inlet line cannot meet downstream demand: high-rise buildings (boost from ground tank to roof tank or directly to fixtures), industrial processes that need stable pressure, irrigation systems with elevation, or feed water for pressure-threshold equipment (RO, autoclave).
Simplex / Duplex / Triplex configurations. Simplex (1 pump) for small intermittent demand. Duplex (2 pumps, standby + duty or parallel) for reliability with automatic alternation. Triplex (3 pumps) for variable large demand with staging - pumps cut in progressively to save energy. Quadplex available for hospitals or large-capacity hotels.
Brand options. Grundfos CR / CRE (premium, IE5 motor, integrated smart controller), Wilo Helix EXCEL (mid-range with reliable VFD), KSB Movitec (compact for space-constrained installations), or LEO ECVm (economical for commercial). All available in vertical multistage configuration with stainless wetted parts.
Control system. Modern boosters use VFD per pump with pressure-transducer feedback, modulating speed to demand for constant pressure. Master-slave controller coordinates staging and alternation. Hydropneumatic tank (50-300 L) dampens cycling. PID tuning to avoid hunting. Each unit ships after hydrostatic test (1.5× design pressure, 30 min), motor megger and amp-draw verification, controller programming, factory acceptance test, and ISO 10816 vibration baseline.
